GTA 6 on PS5: mouse and keyboard support?

Native mouse aiming and keyboard movement in GTA VI on PS5 remain unconfirmed. Connecting accessories or seeing Remote Play listed does not establish those controls. If the released game provides suitable native input, try that first.

GTAMouse and ConsoleMouse

We publish GTAMouse and develop ConsoleMouse. This gives us a commercial interest. This article uses dated platform, manufacturer and project documentation, not our own hands-on comparison. ConsoleMouse is in development; neither PS5 nor Xbox compatibility is independently verified here.

Start with the official launch facts

Dated source note: the primary excerpts checked on 7 October 2026 contain no explicit confirmation of native mouse aiming or keyboard movement in GTA VI on PS5. This is not proof that native support will be absent.

Rockstar’s page retrieved on 7 October announces 19 November 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. That is a dated announcement, not a permanent release guarantee. Our Rockstar extraction was partial, so it cannot prove that the entire publisher site contains no input statement. The checked announcement does not give us a released build or a confirmed GTA VI key layout.

Connecting a peripheral is not the same as controlling the game

Sony explains how to connect keyboards and mice to a PS5. A recognised keyboard can help with text entry; mouse settings and peripheral pairing live at the console level. None of that demonstrates that GTA VI accepts mouse motion for aiming or keyboard keys for movement. Gameplay needs title-specific support.

Think of three separate checks: does the console recognise the device, does the game expose appropriate native controls, and are those controls adequate for the actions you need? A screenshot of a connected keyboard answers the first question, not the other two. The absence of an explicit announcement today also does not prove the released game will lack support.

If GTA VI ships suitable native controls, direct connection is a sensible option to assess before paying for translation software or adapter hardware. Check the released game's own settings and documentation, then verify walking, aiming, vehicles and menus. A list of keys copied from another GTA release is not a confirmed GTA VI layout.

What the Remote Play listing tells you

The official PlayStation GTA VI page lists Remote Play as supported. This is useful because it identifies a streaming feature in the game's platform listing. It is not an approval of every independent client, a promise that a virtual controller will be accepted or evidence that mouse aiming will work.

Sony's Windows Remote Play instructions describe its own application, the console/account prerequisites and supported physical controllers. Being able to operate an app's window with a mouse is not the same as sending mouse-based gameplay controls. Streaming transports the console experience; it does not convert the console game into a Windows game.

Keep the source of a claim attached to its scope. Sony can document Sony's client. An independent vendor must establish its own session, controls and compatibility. A familiar Remote Play label cannot fill in those missing tests.

Three checks, three different answers

A recognised keyboard answers the accessory question. A game setting answers only the action it names. A third-party session needs its own compatibility report. Keep those results separate when a video or product listing claims that a mouse “works on PS5”.

The GTA-focused approach

ConsoleMouse is one planned Windows 11 x64 app behind both websites. Your own console runs your legitimate game. A powered Windows PC handles input in both modes on the same home LAN: PC → LAN → console. TV Play keeps normal console HDMI connected directly to a TV or monitor. PC Play returns console picture and audio to that same input PC; it is not a native Windows game or cloud console.

Manual on-foot, driving and menu contexts are planned; pressing an interaction key does not prove that you entered a vehicle. There is no automatic game-state detection promised here. No dedicated adapter or capture card is specified, but the powered PC and existing console equipment still matter.

What needs to be checked at release

Compatibility must be confirmed using the legitimate released game on the claimed console. GTA V results, synthetic input checks and a completed settings interface would not settle GTA VI's response curves or special interactions. A useful compatibility report needs the game and console versions, tested contexts, required settings and known limitations.

Mouse-to-stick translation remains subject to the game's own turn-rate caps. Rapid physical movement cannot create camera motion beyond what the game accepts from its controller input. Walking, driving, aiming, radial menus and any controller-specific interactions all need attention; one successful camera movement is not full-game coverage.

Keep a physical controller available for setup and interactions that may require it. The final offer should explain verified coverage and fallback requirements. There are no published ConsoleMouse real-device measurements in this guide, so there is no basis for a latency comparison or a claim of identical PC control behavior.

GTA V is a test target, not GTA VI proof

GTA V is the first validation target in our specification, not a completed ConsoleMouse test. A later GTA V report would still need to be followed by GTA VI checks for the released build, perspective, aiming, vehicles, menus, weapon wheel and special interactions. Xbox needs its own authentication, transport and game tests; a PS5 result cannot certify it.

A practical decision before launch

If suitable native input is documented in the released game, try that direct method first. Otherwise check the complete translation setup and evidence for your exact console. For now, use the requirements and status pages rather than buying for an unverified GTA VI result.

USD 39.99 one-time and a 60-minute active-use trial are future targets, not available offers. Equipment is additional. One planned direct licence includes both modes and does not require a second purchase when changing websites. Steam is a separate planned channel; no automatic Steam key is promised. Planned release is within hours of the official GTA VI launch, subject to verified compatibility and release readiness. ConsoleMouse is not yet available to download, try or buy. Signups are currently closed.

ConsoleMouse is independent of Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive, Sony Interactive Entertainment and Microsoft. Intentional single-player input is the focus, not gameplay automation. No account-safety, GTA Online approval or comparative-latency guarantee follows from a documented input method.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a PC while watching the TV?

For planned ConsoleMouse, yes: Windows 11 x64 remains the powered input host. Native game input is a different method.

Does “Remote Play supported” confirm mouse aiming?

No. The flag identifies a streaming feature. It does not certify native GTA VI actions, virtual controllers or our client.

Are GTA V keybinds a GTA VI layout?

No. GTA V is our validation target; GTA VI needs its own released-game evidence.
