Mouse and keyboard for GTA: choose the method
Check the specific GTA title’s native controls first. If they do not cover your needs, compare controller-translation methods for walking, aiming, driving and menus—not just a mouse moving a camera. Choose HDMI or streaming separately. A verified GTA VI control layout and a tested winning method are not yet available.

Our relationship and comparison method
We publish GTAMouse and develop ConsoleMouse. This gives us a commercial interest. This article uses dated platform, manufacturer and project documentation, not our own hands-on comparison. ConsoleMouse is in development; neither PS5 nor Xbox compatibility is independently verified here.
A dated ComputerBase discussion illustrates the real question: a PC-oriented player buying a PS5 for GTA asks about familiar controls and adapter costs. It is audience context, not a support test, current price quote or measure of demand. This page answers that GTA decision; the general ConsoleMouse comparison handles detailed licences and vendor stacks.

Choose the control model before the product
Native input lets the game interpret keys and mouse movement directly. Translation sends controller state instead and preserves controller limits. Streaming transports the picture; it may be bundled with translation, but is not the same function. For GTA VI, explicit native console mouse-and-keyboard confirmation was not found in the primary excerpts checked on 7 October 2026; the Rockstar extraction was partial. Current primary confirmation of native GTA V console controls remains unavailable. Follow the platform articles for their dated answers.

GTA V and GTA VI need separate answers
Rockstar announces GTA VI for 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. GTA V is ConsoleMouse’s first validation target, not a completed result. Native GTA V console actions remain unconfirmed in the current primary sources checked here. A PC keybind list or an older console profile cannot verify either title on a different platform or build.
Aiming is only one part of GTA
A setup that feels acceptable on foot may still need another mapping in a vehicle or weapon wheel. Translation sends controller values, so controller turn-rate limits remain. Ask which actions a dated report actually covers and keep the physical controller available. An “all games” vendor claim cannot answer those GTA-specific questions.

| GTA action | Useful verification question | Current ConsoleMouse status |
|---|---|---|
| On-foot movement Our product plan — unreleased and untested Sources: L02 | Do direction changes, short taps and the walking modifier behave correctly? | Planned manual context; GTA V target, GTA VI unverified. |
| Camera and aiming | Which perspective/settings were checked, and when does the controller turn cap apply? | No measured response curve or native-PC equivalence. |
| Driving and other vehicles Our product plan — unreleased and untested Sources: L02 | Are steering, throttle/brake and entry/exit checked separately? | Driving context planned; pressing interact does not confirm entry. |
| Menus and weapon wheel Our product plan — unreleased and untested Sources: L02 | Can you select, confirm, cancel and release without an invisible PC pointer? | Menu/radial handling is a requirement, not a tested layout. |
| Special interactions and fallback Our product plan — unreleased and untested Sources: L02 | Which touch/motion/controller actions remain essential? Is a physical controller needed? | Inventory and fallback disclosure required before claiming full coverage. |

Choose for the GTA actions you need
If native controls are sufficient, a translator adds an unnecessary step. If your goal is the PC screen while using a controller, official streaming may be enough. If Windows cannot stay on, inspect a documented dedicated-hardware route. Existing Windows software is worth considering when you can verify its translator, client and dependencies together; our planned workflow is not the only software approach.

| GTA option | Console/title evidence | GTA action coverage | Powered host and add-ons | Picture path | Complete cost components | Fit and limits |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Direct native input, if supported | PS5 accessory setup and Xbox selected-game USB facts do not certify GTA V/VI. | Check the released title’s movement, aiming, vehicle and menu actions. | Own console; no Windows translator for this direct path. | Normal console HDMI to TV/monitor. | Console, game, compatible peripherals and display; no researched translator fee. | Try first if the title documents adequate native actions; support still open here. |
| Official controller Remote Play | Sony Windows controller instructions; Xbox own-console browser path. | Stream does not add mouse aiming; title/controller interactions need checking. | Receiving PC/device and supported controller; console runs game. | Console picture streams to selected client. | Owned console/game, client host, controller/cable and network; exact conditions apply. | Useful if PC screen matters more than changing to mouse controls. |
| XIM MATRIX PS5 LAN | Current vendor LAN/Remote Play input method; no GTA VI test here. | Per-game settings and turn limits; GTA action checklist untested by us. | Powered MATRIX; Ethernet and configuration device, not a Windows gameplay host. | Normal console HDMI. | MATRIX, Ethernet, setup device, owned setup, shipping/tax; current total not quoted. | For HDMI play without keeping a Windows translator running; needs exact game/config evidence. |
| MATRIX + P5General PS5 USB | XIM names this separate USB route; firmware pairing untested. | No additional GTA V/VI action proof from USB alone. | Powered MATRIX + P5General, cables and configuration device. | Normal console HDMI; documented alternative to LAN/Remote Play. | Both devices, cables/setup device, owned setup, shipping/tax; total unknown. | For a USB hardware preference; not interchangeable with legacy Beloader Pro. |
| reWASD + Sony/PXPlay/chiaki-ng client | Documented components; historical PS4 example is not current PS5 proof. | GTA mapping and full mouse-to-stick delivery need exact current combination tests. | Powered Windows PC, chosen client and accepted virtual output. | Selected client streams console picture; Windows HDMI-only control not established. | PC/owned setup, remapper tier, client licence/dependencies; no verified combined total. | For PC owners willing to verify components; neither standalone client proves full mouse aiming. |
| Integrated OmniControl or REPL4Y | Vendor-described input + streaming; exact platform/variant differs. | No independent GTA action inventory in this review. | Powered client device; tier/dependencies need checking. | Own-console stream; TV-only variant not confirmed here. | Owned setup + appropriate tier/platform unlocks/dependencies; no current total. | Consider existing documented software if its exact method fits; no tested performance ranking. |
| Planned ConsoleMouse GTA contexts | Own plan: independent PS5 and Xbox Series X|S gates. | Manual on-foot/driving/menu contexts; GTA V target, GTA VI unverified. | Powered Windows 11 x64 in both modes; no dedicated adapter/capture card specified. | TV/monitor normal HDMI or stream to same input PC. | Owned setup + future USD 39.99 one-time target; 60-minute trial target, neither available. | Follow only if powered-PC workflow fits; not a verified GTA solution to buy today. |

XIM now documents two PS5 paths
The current XIM guide distinguishes wired LAN through Remote Play from MATRIX plus P5General over USB. Do not buy for an old description that treats every PS5 XIM setup as LAN-only. Check the exact config/output mode and supporting firmware with the manufacturers. Their input-only or latency claims are documentation, not our measurements or proof of every GTA action.

Equipment and the complete setup
Compare what you already own: console, legitimate game, keyboard, mouse, network and a suitable host. ConsoleMouse requires a powered Windows 11 x64 PC during play. Dedicated adapter hardware has its own configuration devices, cables and platform requirements. A software license or device price alone is not a complete delivered setup cost.
Planned ConsoleMouse software
ConsoleMouse starts with GTA-focused manual contexts for on-foot play, driving and menus. TV Play is primary: mouse and keyboard connect to the Windows PC, which sends input over the home LAN; the console’s HDMI cable remains connected to the TV or monitor. PC Play is included and returns console video and audio to that same input PC in the app’s independent player. The PC stays on in either mode.
The useful next check
USD 39.99 one-time and a 60-minute active-use trial are future targets, not available offers. Equipment is additional. One planned direct licence includes both modes and does not require a second purchase when changing websites. Steam is a separate planned channel; no automatic Steam key is promised. Planned release is within hours of the official GTA VI launch, subject to verified compatibility and release readiness. ConsoleMouse is not yet available to download, try or buy. Signups are currently closed.
ConsoleMouse is independent of Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive, Sony Interactive Entertainment and Microsoft. Intentional single-player input is the focus, not gameplay automation. No account-safety, GTA Online approval or comparative-latency guarantee follows from a documented input method.
Check the route for your GTA platform and actions
For GTA, verify aiming, walking, driving, menus and context changes on the exact title and console, not just mouse detection. Cronus documents different PS5 Zen+LINK and Xbox Series routes; LINK's Remote Play headline/setup tension remains unresolved. Titan's old PS5 page describes experimental seven-minute reconnects, not an Xbox rule; Windows KMG Capture retains a powered PC and Titan hardware. chiaki-ng source buttons/touchpad are not continuous camera-mapping proof, and the Linux assembly is untested, not a Windows recipe. Compare complete general setups on ConsoleMouse; this GTA page keeps the action decision. [NC-CZ03, NC-CZ04, NC-CZ05, NC-TT03, NC-TT04, NC-TT05, NC-OS04, NC-OS08]
Frequently asked questions
Does the HDMI diagram prove GTA compatibility?
No. It describes the picture path. Console backend, title build, actions and both modes need independent verification.
Does a GTA V profile establish GTA VI controls?
No. The released game’s responses, mappings and special interactions need their own checks on each console.
